Nimer Baya'a is a senior lecturer A at "Al-Qasemi" Academic College of Education - Baqa El-Gharbiah, Israel (since 2007). He Works in the college as senior lecturer, pedagogical supervisor and head of the ICT Center (since 2015). He worked previously at "Al-Qasemi" also as head of the graduate studies for M.Ed. Degree (2017 – 2018) and head of the "Teaching and Learning" Program in the graduate studies for M.Ed. Degree (2015 – 2018).
Nimer also worked also as the supervisor of computers in the Arab schools in the Ministry of Education in Israel (1989-2018).
Before "Al-Qasemi", Nimer worked at The Academic Arab College for Education in Israel – Haifa (2000-2007) as senior lecturer, pedagogical supervisor and chair of the computer science department. Before that, he worked at The Academic Center for Training Arab Teachers in Beit-Berl College, Kfar Saba, Israel (1988-2000) as lecturer, pedagogical supervisor, and chair of the mathematics and computer science departments. Nimer also worked at The American University in Washington DC, USA (1985-1988) as assistant professor in the mathematics, statistics & computer science department.
His research focus is computerization of the Arab schools in Israel in the fields of: computer literacy; informatics; computer science; using information and communication technology (ICT) in education; using digital tools, cellular phones, facebook, geogebra and history in teaching mathematics; professional development of pre-service teachers in using advanced technologies in teaching mathematics; development of pre-service teachers' TPACK in the use of digital tools. Currently, concentrates on professional development of pre-service and in-service mathematics teachers in assimilating meta-cognition, HOTS and creative thinking among their students, also integrating between mathematics and programming in Scratch for development of meta-cognitive thinking.
Nimer is also the leader of several projects in Arab schools, educational associations and colleges in Israel. He received his doctorate in mathematics education in 1985 and his M.Sc. in computer science in 1988 from The American University in Washington DC. His Masters in mathematics and mathematics education he received in 1982 from the University of Haifa in Israel.
